It can be reduced in dosage or diluted. Note that powdered PAM can be stored in dry, cool places for more than two years, but after being formulated into a solution, its storage time is very limited.

Generally, when the solution concentration is 0.1%, the non-anionic polymer solution does not exceed one week; the cationic polymer solution does not exceed one day. The stability of the solution is related to the concentration. The thicker the solution (eg 3% to 5%), the longer the solution will be stored. However, 3% to 5% of the solution cannot be directly treated with sewage and diluted before use.

The cationic PAM solution is relatively stable at pH < 5.5, and will rapidly fail due to hydrolysis at pH > 6. It is sensitive to iron ions and calcium and magnesium ions than anionic polymers.
